Mount Davis (摩星嶺) / (259m) and High West (494m) in Pok Fu Lam Country Park. Situated at the western end of Hong Kong Island, both hills are close to residential areas and therefore easy to access. This hike first walks up a long stairs to reach the hilltop of Mount Davis where a demolished artillery depot can still be seen, then goes down the hill to Pok Fu Lam Road and climbs up again along the western ridge of High West to its peak. High West is quite outstanding in the area, views on top are stunning, it is even better than seeing on Victoria Peak. By following the downhill trail along the southern ridge, you will arrive at the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir and end there. As a remark, the path between Pik Shan Path and Hong Kong Trail is gone and now left only with short trees and bushes.

The path just does not exist and you will find yourself struggling to find a way all along

Most of the trail starting in Kennedy town says it’s close for renovation of steps. Yet you can still enter via gate. It’s almost blocked in a lot of sections. And over grown. Only a few views in certain gaps in the trees. And the old barracks at top is a sad image of its former self. Heading down is doable though need good boots and navigation skill

Conditions: Off trail

not good for a view. very underwhelming view but good trail and good experience

Amazing

Mount Davis 摩星嶺

Trail down Mt Davis now clear, just needs a little care but otherwise fine...

Conditions: Scramble

Don’t attempt this hike. The trail is not maintained, is overgrown and blocked by fallen trees. At one point there is a bridge that is extremely unsafe and should not be crossed.

Unable to complete. Path up mount Davis is not looked after and overgrown vegetation, trash, fallen trees makes it unenjoyable. The path down mount Davis instead is dangerous, with a shaky wooden bridge too and it simply ends at a fallen tree, overgrown forest made it impossible to continue. Do not attempt this hike.
